Fewke's Treasure
Signed and numbered Fine Art Print, edition of 100

Dr. Jesse Fewkes was one of the first archeologists to dedicate years of his life to Mesa Verde. Dr. Fewkes discovered this water olla with its unique circular designs totally intact. I have placed the olla in one of the rooms in Far View Ruin. The little balls of fluff are the umbrella seeds of the yellow salsify. Even though the designs on the olla are similar to the salsify, something else motivated the original artist. Yellow salsify arrived from Europe less than two hundred years ago and this vessel is over 800 years old.
